OPENING WEEKEND ROOF-A
Dear partners, lovers of art and culture,
Building, developing, and creating. In recent months, we’ve been able to reach several milestones. The time has come to open at a beautiful location in the green and flourishing Scheepvaartkwartier. With great pride, we invite you to our festive opening weekend from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 November 2021.
We celebrate the establishment of a new cultural enterprise: ROOF-A
An enterprise focused on connecting people and culture by opening doors between and with artists, museums, galleries, companies, and individuals both nationally and worldwide. With the capital A of Art, ROOF-A becomes an international meeting place: a shelter, crossroads, and starting point for artists and photographers, collectors, the public, and anyone else who is curious about a world full of imagination. ROOF-A provides space for inspiration and ideas, for museum exhibitions and cultural encounters, but also for entrepreneurship and the stimulation of lively networks between the arts and the business world.
With three solo exhibitions by Gijs Assmann, Tania Franco Klein, and Marjan Teeuwen, three previews by Kalliopi Lemos, Marc Mulders, and Diana Scherer, and a Rooftop installation by Atelier Van Lieshout, ROOF-A opens a multidisciplinary programme on an international level.
We look forward to welcoming you at Westplein 9-B, a true gem from the 1950s and the former club of shipping company Nedlloyd. A building with an open, hospitable atmosphere – perhaps also thanks to that history as a meeting point!
From Friday 5 to Sunday 7 November, we will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to welcome you in a festive way. We can’t wait to inspire you and show you the works on display. It is an honour to be able to work with our artists and to enrich anyone who is curious. Where would we be without art and the stories that go with it?
