Naré Eloyan heeft zojuist het tweejarige internationale residentieprogramma aan de Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten afgerond. De tentoonstelling ‘Souvenirs and samples’ (Franse vertaling: souvenirs – herinneringen) brengt haar werk van de afgelopen twee jaar samen.
Eloyan heeft het werk gecreëerd als een visueel dagboek. “Ik heb de werken benaderd als een collage, waarbij ik stukken uit eerdere schilderijen heb geknipt die later nieuwe werken werden. De schilderijen bestaan uit beelden met meerdere lagen die over elkaar heen zijn geplaatst. Het hergebruiken van werk houdt verband met het herinneren en het proberen terug te winnen van wat verloren is gegaan. Met dit werk heb ik geprobeerd de vloeiendheid en het verrassende van beeldverbanden vast te leggen.”
